FBI offering $15,000 reward for help with investigation into dead baby found at music festival

The FBI are offering a $15,000 reward in relation to their investigation into the tragic discovery of a dead baby at a music festival in Michigan.

On June 28th, Michigan State Police confirmed they had opened an investigation after cleaning staff at the Electric Forest festival found the deceased newborn in a portable toilet.

They initially explained, “The body was discovered by an employee of the restroom vending company during routine maintenance. This is an ongoing investigation, and there is no further information to share at this time and there is no known threat to the public.”

Currently, no arrests have been made, and now, the FBI is involved in the case to assist with investigating who was responsible.

In a post on X on July 13th, Michigan State Police provided the new update as the force “continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death”.

They wrote: “To assist investigators in identifying and apprehending those responsible, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is offering a reward of up to $15,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible.”

The force also reaffirmed their commitment “to a thorough investigation of this incident,” before adding, “We are confident that continued investigative efforts, combined with forensic science, will ultimately lead to the identification of the person responsible.”

Additionally, Michigan State Police confirmed “that preliminary autopsy findings indicate the infant was viable and was born alive.”

While they acknowledged “there has been much speculation regarding the circumstances surrounding this incident,” they are unable to “discuss many aspects of the evidence at this time,” which is “to protect the integrity of the investigation”.

Calling upon people to step forward with information, they added, “Investigators believe there are individuals with important information relevant to this case who may be reluctant to come forward.”

Anyone who can assist with the investigation is encouraged to contact them here or call 1-855-642-4847.

The latest update comes after they previously shared on July 10th, “Last week, investigators received a tip regarding a female from the Muskegon area who attended the festival and was believed to have information relevant to the investigation. Investigators identified and interviewed the individual, and she was fully cooperative throughout the process.”

The anonymous woman has since been eliminated as a suspect.

The annual electronic music festival held at Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury, Michigan, which is situated around 60 miles from the Grand Rapids, was attended by 50,000 people between June 25th and June 28th.
