Emmy Awards 2026: Rob Reiner earns posthumous nod for ‘The Bear’ guest role
Rob Reiner has earned a posthumous Emmy Awards nomination for his guest role in The Bear.
The late filmmaker, who passed away in December 2025 in a murder that shocked Hollywood and beyond, has received the nod in the category ‘Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series’.
Reiner appeared as Albert Schnurr during three episodes of the fourth season of the popular FX series. Schnurr was an ambitious business manager and restaurant consultant, recruited to advise on the restaurant’s sandwich window.
In the category, the beloved icon will face off against Michael J Fox’s appearance as Gerry in Shrinking, Brett Goldstein’s appearance as Louis, also in Shrinking, Hamish Linklater as Richard Warren in Widow’s Bay, Christoper McDonald as Marty Ghilain in Hacks, and Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie as the host of Saturday Night Live.
This wasn’t Reiner’s only foray into modern television; he also appeared in a recent episode of the new HBO series, Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness, where he portrayed the likeness of George Washington.
Tragically, the director of cult classics like Stand By Me and When Harry Met Sally was found stabbed to death along with his wife in their Los Angeles residence.
Subsequently, their youngest son, Nick, was charged with two counts of murder with the special circumstance allegation of multiple murders, as well as facing a special allegation that he personally used a dangerous and deadly weapon. He is currently awaiting trial.
The Emmys will take place on September 14th, when the big hitters in the television industry are set to congregate at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
On hosting duties this year will be Mariska Hargitay, who is best known for starring in Law & Order: SVU.
This year, The Pitt is leading the pack with a staggering 25 nominations, with Hacks closely trailing behind with 24. On the spookier side of things, Widow’s Bay has stirred up much intrigue in television fanatics, earning an impressive 19 nods.
