Elton John and Brandi Carlile set to record televised concert

Elton John and Brandi Carlile are set to record a televised concert in celebration of their upcoming collaborative album, Who Believes in Angels?

The hour-long, primetime special, titled An Evening With Elton John and Brandi Carlile, will be recorded on March 26th at the London Palladium before being broadcast by CBS in America on April 6th, with Paramount+ then taking over the streaming rights.

The special will include performances from the pair’s new joint album as well as old favourites from both singers, as they are accompanied by a live band. Not only this, but it will also feature John and Carlile telling stories from over the years of their illustrious friendship as well as contributions from those closest to them.

It comes at a time when John is increasingly entering the twilight years of his career. Having retired from touring with an epic UK farewell performance closing Glastonbury in 2023, the singer vowed he would not tour in the country again. However, while he’s still not committed to touring, he is set to return to the stage for his special recorded performance alongside Carlile.

On the subject of his new record with the American country singer, John said previously: “I came into this album with huge doubt.”

In an uncharacteristic turn for the exuberant star, he elaborated by saying during an interview on BBC Radio 2: “If I’d have been on my own without Brandi and Bernie [Taupin] and Andrew [Watt], this record would never have got made. It was the combination of all the energy in the room, all the aggravation, all the anxiety, [that] pushed us to make electric music.”

John and Carlile’s joint album, Who Believes in Angels?, will be released on April 4th via Interscope Records.
