Black Breath bassist, Elijah Nelson, has reportedly passed away at the age of 40.
Black Breath, the Seattle heavy metal band, formed in 2006, has released four records since they began working together and earned a cult following having performed small, independent venues for the majority of their formative years.
While no details of Nelson’s death have been released as of yet, a number of affiliated bands and groups have begun paying tribute to the musician. Ringworm, who has toured with Black Breath in the past, took to social media to write: “See you on the other side Elijah Nelson. Sad news. Ringworm sends nothing but light and love to you and yours brother. Enlightened travels in the beyond, young wizard.”
“We are obviously saddened by the news of Elijah Nelson’s passing,” wrote Swedish grindcore group Nasum added. “Black Breath were very important to Nasum during the final leg of the farewell tour. Elijah was the Cliff Burton of death metal and he will be missed.”
