Duran Duran cover Talking Heads’ ‘Psycho Killer’ with Victoria De Angelis of Maneskin
Just ahead of Halloween, Duran Duran have teamed up with Måneskin to deliver a Talking Heads cover. Featuring Victoria De Angelis of Måneskin on bass and vocals, Duran Duran make ‘Psycho Killer’ sound spookier than ever.
As part of Duran Duran’s new Halloween-themed album titled Danse Macabre, which arrives on October 27th, in the perfect time for party playlists. The LP also features covers of tracks from The Rolling Stones, Billie Eilish, The Specials and Sixousie and the Banshees with Duran Duran gathering all the best Halloween tracks in one place.
De Angelis isn’t the only special guest on ‘Psycho Killer’. Duran Duran’s ex-guitarist Andy Taylor returns to play on this track, bringing the signature guitar flare heard on the band’s most iconic tracks like ‘Rio’ and ‘Hungry Like The Wolf’. Bassist John Taylor is responsible for the collaboration coming together as De Angelis “met John at a party, and [they] immediately bonded talking about music and bass.”
She continued: “I told him Tina Weymouth was my absolute pinnacle of cool, attitude and incredible musicianship all rolled into one, and he told me he also started playing bass inspired by her and she was one of his music idols.”
The Italian musician was then asked to play on Duran Duran’s cover of Talking Heads 1977 classic ‘Psycho Killer’, De Angelis says she’ll “always remember that day,” describing the experience as “Absolutely insane.” She added: “I’m so grateful and honoured.”
It’s a mutual admiration as John Taylor describes De Angelis as “the most important electric bassist out there right now.”
Elsewhere on the Danse Macabre, Duran Duran are joined by Warren Cuccurullo and Nile Rodgers for the new original single ‘Black Moonlight’, bringing the old band back together for a spooky celebration.
