Duffer Brothers respond to claims Millie Bobby Brown filed lawsuit against David Harbour
As the final season of Netflix hit Stranger Things looms closer, co-creators the Duffer Brothers have commented on reports that Millie Bobby Brown filed a lawsuit against co-star David Harbour, allegedly accusing him of bullying and harassment.
On November 1st, Radar Online reported that Harbour had reportedly been the subject of an internal inquiry after the young actor filed a formal complaint. Harbour plays her adoptive father in the show.
Allegedly, a source revealed, “Millie Bobby Brown filed a harassment and bullying claim before they started shooting the last season. There were pages and pages of accusations. The investigation went on for months.”
Notably, filming began in January 2024; therefore, the alleged lawsuit would have been filed in 2023.
Though they have avoided the matter during press appearances, the Duffer Brothers were asked about it at the season five world premiere in Los Angeles on November 6th. Ross Duffer responded to queries from The Hollywood Reporter, while standing next to his brother Matt Duffer.
He stated, “Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal onset matters, but I will say we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them. So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”
Executive Producer Shawn Levy was also asked how production handles a bullying complaint on set. He was also asked how he “makes sure everyone feels safe and respected.”
Levy responded, “At the end of the day, that’s the job. You have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe, and so we did everything to build that environment. And we’re proud of the fact that we did so.”
He continued, “I’ve read a bunch of stories and they range from wildly inaccurate to… there’s so much noise around it. But the truth is that we view this crew and this cast as family, and so we treat each other with respect, and that’s always been bedrock.”
