Dropkick Murphys announce free memorial show for Renee Good and Alex Pretti
Dropkick Murphys have announced a free memorial concert in Minneapolis in honour of the late Alex Pretti and Renee Good, who were both killed by ICE agents.
The rock band are in town already on March 6th, performing at the city’s Palace Theatre. Making the most of their time in the city that has been the hotspot for Trump’s ICE regime, the band will host a special acoustic gig earlier in the day to pay tribute to Pretti and Good.
Frontman Ken Casey has explained the show in a statement, which began, “We are so proud of how Minnesota stood up and met this moment, and we are so sad for the community and for the Pretti and Good families for what they’ve gone through.”
He added, “It is an honour to come down and be able to play some music for the people and let them know we stand in solidarity with them.”
The show, which will stretch from 1pm to 8pm local time, will also feature a host of local acts, including Wild Colonial Bhoys, DJ Jacques, Kiss the Tiger, Sophie Hiroko, Chutes, Laamar, Obi Original, and the Shackletons.
The poster posits that the “fundraiser for the people” aims to “fight fascism and support the warriors who’ve stepped up to protect our neighbours and our democracy.”
Fans who can’t make it to the local area will be able to watch the concert via livestream; those in the area are invited to attend at the Black Forest Inn parking lot, which is close to where Pretti was killed.
Though the show is free, attendees are invited to donate to a number of local groups and aid efforts, including Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Show Up For East Street, Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota, rent support, and the South Minneapolis Families Fund.
The event will stream globally on the AlobishICE.live website.
The band recently dropped the single ‘Citizen I.C.E’, a reimagined version of Dropkick Murphys’ 2005 song ‘Citizen C.I.A.,’ recorded in late 2025.
