Drinks release new song 'Laying Down Rock'

Track of the Day is the second release to come from Drinks, the new collaborative project from Tim Presley of White Fence and Cate Le Bon.

Following on from the curious ear-worm of ‘Hermits On Holiday’, this time around it is Presley who takes up lead vocal duties on ‘Laying Down Rock’ – further whetting our appetite for the debut album, which drops August 21st on Heavenly Recordings.

Before there was any word of Drinks, the pair had already collaborated on the live stage, after Le Bon joined White Fence on guitar during their touring schedule at the beginning of the year.

But this new incarnation has a slightly more angular feel to it, with pulsating riffs providing the back-drop for Presley’s ’60s infused psych-pop.

Again, the band demonstrate that intriguing rhythms and swirling grooves look set to dominate show-stopping solos on this one, but in Far Out’s opinion, they’ve got the understated approach nailed.

Listen to ‘Laying Down Rock’ below and keep your eyes peeled for the Hermits On Holiday LP, out on Heavenly Recordings next month.
