Doves have confirmed their first full studio album in 11 years with the impending release of The Universal Want.
Having recently released their new single ‘Carousels’, the band have finally confirmed the eagerly anticipated follow up to 2009 record Kingdom of Rust.
“It’s about continually chasing something and not being satisfied when you eventually get it. You’ve got ‘that thing’ and you find you’re not any happier. Be careful what you wish for,” drummer and vocalist Andy Williams said in a statement.
Due for release through Imperial and Virgin EMI, Doves’ new recored will be shared in September.
“It’s definitely got the stamp of ‘the time’ all over it. Everything on the album is an echo. It’s an echo of what we were going through at the time,” Jez Williams said in a separate statement. “Getting back together, the Royal Albert Hall and everything else.”
