Donald Glover shares trailer for new film ‘Bando Stone & The New World’

Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, has shared the trailer for his new film, Bando Stone & The New World. The project will mark his feature directorial debut.

Recently, Glover took to Instagram to share an image of a cinema ticket to A Quiet Place: Day One. The caption stated, “Bando Stone trailer is coming tonight.” A first glimpse at the film was then provided to audiences before a screening of the sequel film.

Now, Glover has unveiled the trailer online. The apocalyptic film follows Glover as the titular Bando Stone, a famous singer navigating the new world. He finds company in Jessica Allain’s character, as well as her daughter, as they fight off creatures and dodge lasers. A pulsing score in the background, which ends with the title in a superhero movie-esque font.

The soundtrack to the film will mark Glover’s sixth and final album as Childish Gambino. Glover has been releasing and performing under the pseudonym for over a decade, releasing his debut album, Camp, in 2011. Since then, he has taken home five Grammy awards and played across the world.

‘Lithonia’, the lead single from Bando Stone & The New World, is set for release tomorrow, July 2nd. Release dates for the film and album are yet to be confirmed.

Bando Stone & The New World will follow the release of Glover’s fifth album as Childish Gambino, Atavista, earlier this year. The record saw Glover reunite with producer and film composer Ludwig Göransson, alongside features from popstar Ariana Grande and rapper 21 Savage.

Glover is set to embark on the ‘New World Tour’ later this summer. The North American leg of the tour will kick off on August 11th in Oklahoma, and Glover will perform on stages across the United States and Canada until early October.

In the autumn, Glover will take the ‘New World Tour’ to Europe, with shows across France, Germany, the United Kingdom and more. The tour will conclude in early 2025 in Australia.

Though Bando Stone & The New World will mark Glover’s first time in the director’s seat, it’s not the first time working behind the camera. In 2019, he produced and provided the story for Guava Island, which also featured several Childish Gambino tracks. He has also directed a number of episodes of Atlanta, alongside creating and appearing in the show.
