Disturbed’s David Draiman takes issue with Jack White’s criticism of Donald Trump’s Iran attack
Disturbed frontman David Draiman has taken issue with Jack White’s latest criticism of Donald Trump, centring around the latest launch of aerial attacks across Iran.
Over the weekend, the United States and Israel began “major combat operations” against Iran, which has led to the Iranian regime launching retaliatory attacks across Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
Trump then confirmed US military involvement and claimed boldly, “Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime.” He labelled the campaign “Operation Epic Fury”.
The former White Stripes slammed this political move online, writing in part, “Don’t you love seeing him declare war on a country while wearing a trucker hat that says ‘USA’ on it? Behold the leader of the ‘Board of Peace’.”
He added sarcastically, “Don Jr and Barron won’t have to fight or die, just other people’s children, so…invade and bomb away!” White is a long-time critic of the Trump administration.
Draiman took to addressing White publicly in his own Instagram post, in which he tagged his fellow musician.
The post began, “No matter what you may think of other things done by this administration, the campaign to #FreeIran isn’t something you, or anyone for that matter, should be taking issue with. The Iranian people deserve their freedom.”
He quickly added that he delivered the warning with “the UTMOST respect. I think you’re an absolutely brilliant artist.”
Today, Draiman has followed up with a reiteration of his own viewpoint on the matter, writing in another post, “May this be the war to end forever wars, #freeiran, and finally bring peace and stability to the Middle East.”
Draiman then added that he was giving White an “open invitation” to “talk” about the matter. He went on to outline this potential discussion: “Not debate, about it, anywhere you like, in private, or public, whichever you prefer.”
White has yet to respond to Draiman’s comments.
