‘Dilbert’ creator Scott Adams admits “it’s all bad news” in health update amid cancer battle
Scott Adams, the cartoonist and author behind the iconic series Dilbert, has admitted “it’s all bad news” in a worrying health update amid his ongoing battle with cancer.
In May 2025, Adams went public with his cancer diagnosis, revealing that he was initially diagnosed with prostate cancer, which had since spread to his bones.
Adams also told his fans that he expected to die within the next few months, sharing, “So my life expectancy is maybe the summer. I expect to be checking out from this domain sometime this summer.”
While Adams successfully survived 2025, his condition did worsen significantly, and in December, he revealed that he was paralysed from the waist down due to his cancer.
It came after Adams, who is a vocal supporter of Donald Trump, reached out to the president on social media to help him access a newly approved cancer treatment drug in November, and Trump claimed he would help the cartoonist.
Now, in a new update during a livestream on New Year’s Day, Adams told viewers (via Newsweek), “I talked to my radiologist yesterday. And it’s all bad news—the odds of me recovering are essentially zero. I’ll give you any updates if that changes, but it won’t.”
He admitted, “So there’s no chance that I’ll get my feeling back in my legs and I’ve got some ongoing heart failure, which is making it difficult to breathe sometimes during the day.”
Adams’ also bleakly said, “However, you should prepare yourself that January will probably be a month of transition, one way or another.”
Despite his deteriorating health condition, Adams insisted that he plans to continue broadcasting online through his social media channels.
