Did Elvis Presley have a foot fetish?
Forget about blue suede shows; it’s what was inside them that Elvis Presley seemed to care about. We think. The truth is, there is a lot that we don’t know about him. Despite the fact that there are so many fanatics of his out there and that there have been hundreds of books written about him, it seems that we are constantly uncovering new information about ‘The King’ of rock and roll.
Elvis Presley’s career was never going to be one covered in glory because there hadn’t been anybody else like him in the mainstream before. There had been rock stars, sure, and famous musicians, but none on the scale of Elvis. Never before had someone whipped the public into such a frenzy and made so much money through just playing music, and as a result, management and record labels didn’t know what to do with him. A lot of them even thought rock and roll was a fad and worried about the longevity of Elvis’s sound.
He was treated like the human iteration of a princess from a fairytale, locked away with a life-kept secret. He very rarely travelled except when he was in the army, and a lot of his career was spent performing in Las Vegas. He remains a mystery because of all of this, and when people talk to those who had a glimpse into his life, we are constantly getting new information.
Of course, the issue here is that we very rarely know what information we can and can’t believe. Some information will be true, but other people will make up different points in the interest of looking like they have something to say about Elvis Presley.
There is one point about Elvis that we can be relatively sure about, though, and that is that he had a foot fetish. As the king of rock and roll, he always had a thriving love life, given how many people found him attractive, so it would be interesting to know how the people he was with felt when Elvis was mainly interested in their feet.
He was a mother’s boy growing up and used to do a baby voice with his mum well into his 20s. Growing up in a small shotgun shack in Tupelo, Mississippi, he developed a close bond with his mother, and he would often spend evenings rubbing what he called “her little sooties,” which meant her feet.
When he got older, he developed a foot fetish that manifested a lot with the women that he went out with. This meant that when he was with his partners, he would often massage their feet and suck their toes, too. “He had a definite foot fetish,” said Pat H Broeske, an Elvis Presley biographer, “They had to have pretty feet. That was a requirement for a date with him.”
