Dickey Betts, a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, has undergone a successful brain operation.
Betts, who was left in a critical condition after “freak accident” at his home, slipped while playing with the family dog and cracked his head, causing bleeding from the brain.
“Dickey Betts and his family want everyone to know that his surgery was a success,” reads a post on his official website. “The outpouring of support from all over the world has been overwhelming and amazing. We are so appreciative.”
His manager, David Spero, broke the news that Betts was in a “stable but critical condition.”
“It was just a few days ago that Dickey was telling me how excited he was to get back in front of the fans,” Spero added. “It is very unfortunate, for all involved, that we need to cancel those shows. Please add Dickey into your thoughts and prayers. I’ll keep everyone updated on his expected progress.”
