Debbie Harry provides update on new Blondie album

Much like her pledge to always work New Year’s Eve, it would seem that Debbie Harry didn’t put her feet up on her Birthday yesterday either as she revealed further details about the forthcoming Blondie album.

Speaking to NME, the iconic frontwoman revealed, “We’re in the process of setting up a period of time to lay down some tracks and rehearse. We’re already looking at 10-12 songs, but it feels too early to talk about it.”

Despite being reticent on the details, Harry has previously announced that their 12th album will feature a song by Johnny Marr, who also contributed to the 2017 record Pollinator alongside Nick Valensi of The Strokes and various other big-name collaborators.

Aside from their 12th release the band also have a Blondie box-set due for release. Speaking about Blondie 1974–1982: Against The Odds, Harry said it had been an unusual process of “re-discovering the things you move on [from] and forget about.”

Adding, “It’s not my nature to live in the past – I’m always looking for the next step.” This is a mantra that Harry and the band have lived by throughout their careers of constant musical pioneering.

As of yet, there is no further details on the album, but fans still have the Vivir En La Habanaconcert film soundtrack EP to look forward to on the 16th of July via BMG.
