David Harbour quits Tony Gilroy’s movie ‘Behemoth’
David Harbour has officially dropped out of Behemoth!, the upcoming drama film from director Tony Gilroy.
A representative from Searchlight Pictures has confirmed, as per Variety, that the Stranger Things actor has stepped back from his role.
Harbour was originally set to star alongside The Fantastic Four: First Steps actor, Pedro Pascal, and Don’t Worry Darling actor and director, Olivia Wilde.
However, it has now been reported that Harbour found the series wrap for Netflix’s Stranger Things overwhelming. The sci-fi show has finally enjoyed its conclusion after over a decade of filming.
As such, Harbour has stepped away from the project to rest. The role has now been recast, though it is not yet known who will be replacing Harbour.
The plot of Behemoth! has been kept largely under wraps, but a small logline states that the film will follow “a musician from a family of musicians who returns to Los Angeles”. It will serve as “a love letter to the music of the movies and the people who make it”.
Harbour has recently been the subject of intense public and press scrutiny, after his ex-wife, Lily Allen, released an album, West End Girl, last year. The album scrutinised and narrativised her soured relationship with Harbour due to alleged infidelity on his part.
Additionally, after the album had been released, further reports in the industry suggested that his Stranger Things co-star, Millie Bobby Brown, reportedly accused Harbour of “bullying and harassing” her on set.
However, they have since happily shared a red carpet together. Plus, it was later reported that any issues had been resolved between the pair.
Despite this, Harbour recently opened up about his career so far and insisted in an interview with Variety that he enjoyed his Stranger Things work: “I love the attention, and I love capturing the widest audience possible, and I love moving the most people with what you’re doing.”
Behemoth! began filming in Los Angeles in late 2025. No release date has been announced.
