David Draiman confirms Disturbed are taking a break
Disturbed frontman David Draiman has seemingly confirmed that the band are set to go on an extended hiatus from touring, following the conclusion of their most recent run on the road.
The band leader took to social media last week to thank fans after their 25th anniversary The Sickness tour had drawn to a close, saying, “Not sure when we will be headed back out. We all need a nice long break. Hope to see you when we do.”
It comes after a turbulent few months for the band due to Draiman’s public support for Israel and the Israeli Defence Force.
Last month, the band’s concert in Belgium was cancelled for security reasons, as the local mayor cited a number of issues regarding a pro-Palestine protest that was set to take place outside the gig venue, and clashes this could cause with Disturbed fans.
At the time, Disturbed hit back at the cancellation by saying that their music is welcoming to “everyone” despite this, before adding in a social media post: “Music has the power to heal, to inspire and to bring people together, it’s not about what divides us. We have always made it a point that at our shows ALL are welcome no matter what you believe.”
A similar protest took place outside the band’s final stop of the tour on October 28th at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, when a pro-Palestine-supporting punk gig gathered crowds outside the arena (per Glasgow Times).
Draiman once again took to social media to hit back at this, posting on X later that night: “The ‘real Glasgow’ showed up to the tune of 12,000 strong at OVO. Hope your Jew hatred kept you guys warm lol. Still praying for peace each and every day. What are you praying for?”
