David Byrne is joined by Robyn and Arcade Fire for mega performance at SNL:50 show

David Byrne joined forced with Robyn for a performance of her seminal hit ‘Dancing On My Own’ at the SNL 50:Homecoming concert.

Robyn, who first performed on SNL in 2011, took to the stage to perform the song before Byrne joined her on stage for a surprise second verse.

In a nod to Byrne’s ‘Stop Making Sense’ oversized suit, the pair wore matching Khaki suits as they performed a relatively in-sync rendition of the 2010 song. In another interesting style decision, the pair performed with wireless microphone headsets, as opposed to traditional handheld microphones.

After their performance of Robyn’s hit, they segued into the iconic ‘This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)’, where they performed the hit as a duet and with choreographed dance moves.

Earlier on in the show, Byrne appeared on stage to perform David Bowie’s ‘Heroes’ and Arcade Fire’s ‘Wake Up’ with Arcade Fire, St. Vincent, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

The show also played host to another musical collaboration, with the remaining members of Nirvana, Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl and Pat Smear, reuniting for the second time in two weeks, but this time with Post Malone on vocals to perform ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’.

The second commemorative SNL:50 show will air on February 16th. It will be an anniversary special that follows their usual formula of live sketches combined with musical performances. The latter part will be provided by a star-studded list of names, including Paul McCartney and Paul Simon.
