David Bowie’s daughter, Lexi Jones, releases her debut album

With little fanfare, David Bowie’s daughter, Lexi Jones, quietly released her debut album on April 2nd, 2025.

For years now, Jones has been sharing snippets of her music on her Instagram. Her music is all written, performed, and produced by the artist that her followers have been watching her hone for a long time on the social media platform. This debut album, Xandri, is the culmination of all this work.

Ahead of this album’s release, Jones shared snippets of many of the tracks, including ‘Standing Alone’ and ‘Moving On’. Providing insights into her life and childhood, they were shared alongside clips of Jones growing up with Bowie, and she also montaged clips of a series of films that clearly inspired her.

Featuring 12 tracks, the record spans from indie to pure pop to more left-field electronic elements, clearly following in her father’s genre-defying legacy. Leaning into a distinct theatricality and a lyrical sharpness, Jones delivers a strong record that especially highlights her rich vocal depth.

The album also included self-made art by Jones, who is also a visual artist alongside being a musician. “Art has been a rock in my life for as long as I can remember,” she wrote on her Instagram in 2021.

Jones continued: “I took art classes as a kid … I however didn’t become more serious about art and didn’t start refinding and finding my style until I was in my mid teens.” The album’s title is a reference to Greek mythology as the name Xandri translates to “defender of mankind.”

At only 24 years old, this marks only the start for Jones, who was born in 2000 to Bowie and Iman. It is already an impressive feat to have delivered a full self-made record, but no doubt the artist’s skills and talents will only keep developing with more to come in the future.
