It transpires that the late, great David Bowie had a hand in reforming James Murphy’s LCD Soundsystem. Speaking on BBC 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne show, Murphy discussed his friendship with the enigmatic David Bowie.
The main point of discussion revolving around this subject was Bowie’s influence in helping Murphy to get the gang back together and reform LCD Soundsystem following their 2011 hiatus. The pair worked together on Arcade Fire’s ‘Reflektor’ (which Bowie guested on while Murphy produced) and Murphy played percussion on Bowie’s mercurial work Blackstar.
“I spent a good amount of time with David Bowie, and I was talking about getting the band back together,” James Murphy said in an interview. “He said ‘does it make you uncomfortable?’ I said ‘yeah’, and he said ‘good, it should, it should make you feel uncomfortable’.”
