David Berman remembered by Tennessee Titans at NFL match
Musician and poet David Berman, best known for forming indie rock band Silver Jews, has been remembered by Tennessee Titans.
The beloved musician died on August 7th at the age of 52. Earlier this year Berman had recently returned to music, with Purple Mountains. Ending a ten-year hiatus with a debut album released in May.
Berman is said to have been a huge fan of the Tennessee Titans and arrived in the city the same year that the team relocated from Houston. As Faderpointed out, Berman often cited football as part of his creative writing: “Perhaps it took the marriage of Now and Then, here in the weeks leading up to football season, to make us realize that in death we are declassified,” he wrote in his poem Tableau Through Shattered Monocle.
Now, just months after his death, The Titans have returned the favour with a touching tribute to one of their fans with a message posted on their scoreboard during a game with the Kansas City Chiefs. It read: “Nashville (and the world) will always love David Berman.”
