Dave Grohl takes swipe at Taylor Swift during Foo Fighters show in London

During Foo Fighters‘ concert at London Stadium on June 22nd, frontman Dave Grohl seemed to take a swipe at Taylor Swift. The two are simultaneously on tour in the English capital, with Swift performing multiple dates at a sold-out Wembley Stadium.

Grohl mentioned that the two were playing gigs in the same city, saying, “I tell you, man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift,” before continuing, “So we like to call our tour the ‘Errors Tour’. We’ve had more than a few eras and more than a few fucking errors as well. Just a couple.”

The controversial part of Grohl’s speech was when he went on to imply that Swift doesn’t perform her music live. He told the crowd, “That’s because we actually play live. What? Just saying. You guys like raw, live rock ‘n’ roll music, right? You came to the right fucking place.”

Grohl and Swift don’t have a history of exchanging negative comments; in fact, the rock star has been seen praising Swift in the past, to the point that he dedicated the Foo Fighters song ‘Congregation’ to her at the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend in 2015. “I’m officially obsessed. She might want to get a restraining order because I’m all about Swift,” he said, “To my opening band, Taylor Swift. Taylor and the Swifts.”

Swift seemingly shot back at Grohl’s comments in her final London show which took place on June 23rd. As she thanked her audience, she made reference to the whole team responsible for putting the show together, including, “My band who will be playing live for you for three and a half hours tonight.”

The singer is set to return to the capital at the end of August to perform another five dates. This will bring her full European tour cycle to a close, which has been a huge success so far. Swift is the most popular musician of 2024, and her sell-out worldwide tour is a clear reflection of that.

While official figures are yet to be released, the US leg of Taylor Swift’s three-hour ‘Eras Tour’ saw the country experience an economic boom of $4 billion. Similar results are expected from her European tour, as these kinds of figures were also seen in Singapore and Australia.

Following her first London show, Swift was given a warm welcome into the capital as she met and took a selfie with Prince William, who was celebrating his 42nd birthday. He attended the concert with his children, George and Charlotte.
