Dave Grohl cooks meals for LA wildfire victims on birthday
As wildfires continue to tear through Los Angeles as the most destructive blaze in the city’s history, Dave Grohl helped his local community by getting into the kitchen to feed those in need.
As several fires tore through Los Angeles, more than 180,000 people were displaced, and over 12,000 houses and structures were destroyed. According to the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner, 25 people have died as a result of the wildfires, and over 20 are also currently missing.
The city’s celebrity population have been stepping up to help the situation. Jamie Lee Curtis donated $1 million to the efforts, and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders joined the video messaging service Cameo to raise money for those affected in Los Angeles.
Foo Fighters frontman Grohl is also doing his bit to ensure everyone is well-fed. On his 56th birthday, January 14th, 2025, homelessness charity Feed The Streets LA posted an Instagram Story in which the rock singer could be seen cooking up a pot of chilli and helping move supplies.
In a separate post, they wrote, “The city is burning, we must do our part to look after our neighbors. We salute the volunteers, sending good energy to those displaced, and honor the [firefighters].”
Grohl, a resident of Encino, a neighbourhood in the San Fernando Valley threatened with evacuation but luckily saved from the Pallasades fire, was clearly moved to help out with the situation in any way he could, including spending his birthday cooking hot meals.
This isn’t the first time he’s worked with Feed The Streets, the musician has been a regular volunteer and fundraiser for the charity for several years.
