Daniel Craig joins Justin Lin’s heist thriller with Charlize Theron
Actor Daniel Craig has agreed to perform in his first role since leaving the James Bond film franchise. The Skyfall and Spectre star will play in the heist thriller Two for the Money, directed by Fast and Furious filmmaker Justin Lin.
Craig had played 007 ever since 2006’s Casino Royale and bowed out of the iconic spy role with 2021’s No Time to Die, following up with an appearance in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery by Rian Johnson.
The actor has Knives Out 3 and Queer, an adaptation of William S. Burrough’s 1985 work of the same name, but Two for the Money is the first original piece of cinema that Craig has signed onto since departing the Bond franchise.
Two for the Money has been picked up by Apple Orginal Films following a lengthy bidding war. Justin Lin’s movie will see Craig come together with Charlize Theron as a pair of criminals who form a close bond after a series of heists.
Lin is working with his Fast X co-writer Dan Mazeau for the screenplay. The director has proven his credentials in the action movie world with Star Trek Beyond and four of the Fast franchise films.
Theron has also featured in the heist film genre, beginning with the 2003 remake of The Italian Job alongside Jason Statham and Mark Wahlberg, in addition to action-heavy efforts in Mad Max: Fury Road, Atomic Blonde, and The Old Guard.
As of yet, there is no release date for Two for the Money.
