D4vd had “significant amount” of child sex abuse material in iCloud account, prosecutors tell court
D4vd had a “significant amount” of child sex abuse images in his iCloud account, according to prosecutors.
The singer was arrested on April 16th, before being charged with the first-degree murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, as well as charges for lewd acts with a child and for dismembering the victim’s body on April 20th. He could face the death penalty if found guilty.
D4vd, real name David Anthony Burke, pleaded not guilty to all of the charges during an initial hearing on April 20th.
Burke appeared back in court for another hearing on April 23rd. Per NBC News, Beth Silverman, deputy district attorney for Los Angeles County, explained that they had found eight terabytes of data, which is taking a long time to upload.
At this stage, according to Silverman, they have only downloaded one terabyte of data from Burke’s iCloud account, which included a “significant amount” of child sex abuse images.
Due to the nature of the content, prosecutors won’t be turning them over, but will allow defence attorneys to view them at a clean computer in the justice centre.
It comes after the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner released a 26-page report confirming that Hernandez died due to homicide and suffered “multiple penetrating injuries”.
The report states she suffered “penetrating wounds of the torso”, one was to her right abdomen which caused the liver to be punctured and another wound to the left chest, as well as “dismemberment of the upper and lower extremities”. Her injuries were caused by “object(s)” that have yet to be identified.
They also found “multiple skin defects”, and it took “dental radiograph comparison” to identify the decomposing body as Hernandez, whose arms and legs had been cut off.
Hernandez’s body was discovered in the trunk of Burke’s Tesla in a tow yard in Hollywood in early September 2025.
NBC News states that attorneys are due to meet again at the courthouse next week.
