‘Conclave’ director Edward Berger lines up Brad Pitt for new movie ‘The Riders’
Brad Pitt is being lined up to star in a new drama called The Riders, set to be directed by Conclave filmmaker Edward Berger.
Adapted from the Tim Winton novel of the same name, with the Hollywood actor now attached, Deadline reported on April 28th that the film will commence shooting in the early part of 2026 across multiple locations in Europe.
A24, quickly rising as one of the most prolific production houses in Hollywood, is also on board with the movie, which follows a man who moves to Ireland with his family but must set out searching for his wife, who suddenly goes missing upon their arrival in the country.
The project joins the rest of A24’s upcoming movies over the next few years, among the most prominent of which include Celine Song’s Materialists and the Timothee Chalamet adventure film Marty Supreme.
For Berger, The Riders comes as his latest project following his Oscar-tipped efforts in Conclave, which scored nominations for top prizes throughout the 2025 awards season, not limited to ‘Best Picture’.
For the part of Pitt, the film is just a further addition to his current long string of projects, which include the racing drama F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski, that is set to hit the screen in June this year.
He is also working on the sequel to his star turn in 2019’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, titled The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth. David Fincher will direct the film for Netflix, while original director Quentin Tarantino will be penning the script.
Further casting and a release date for The Riders have not yet been announced.
