Cole Brings Plenty, ‘1923’ actor, dead at 27
Cole Brings Plenty, the actor who featured in the Yellowstone spin-off 1923 alongside Harrison Ford, has been found dead in Kansas. The news emerged only days after the 27-year-old was reported missing.
Earlier in the week, it was announced that Kansas police were searching for Brings Plenty in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident that occurred over Easter weekend.
On Tuesday, the Lawrence Police Department updated their Facebook, stating that they had submitted an affidavit to the District Attorney for the arrest of the 1923 actor after an incident that took place on the morning of March 31st at an apartment in Lawrence. They wrote: “We’ve identified him as the suspect, have probable cause for his arrest, and issued an alert to area agencies.”
“Officers responded to reports of a female screaming for help, but the suspect fled before officers arrived,” it continues. “The investigation identified Brings Plenty and traffic cameras showed him leaving the city immediately after the incident, travelling southbound on 59 Highway.”
Plenty’s family also vocalised their need to find him after he went missing. His uncle, Moses Brings Plenty, who plays Mo in Yellowstone and is also the show’s native affairs advisor, updated his social media with a number of appeals to find his nephew. He extended heartfelt gratitude to those in the community who had committed time and resources to finding the young actor.
Cole’s father, Joseph Brings Plenty Sr, shared an urgent Facebook post featuring recent photographs of his son and again appealed to people for help, stating that they were “very worried” about his wellbeing and that he hadn’t returned calls or messaged back.
In an update to the search on April 5th, the Johnson County, KS Sheriff’s Office released a press statement announcing that they had found Plenty’s body. It reads: “On April 5th, 2024, at approximately 11:45 am, deputies were dispatched to the area of 200th and Homestead Lane in reference to an unoccupied vehicle. Deputies checked the area and discovered a deceased male in a wooded area away from the vehicle. The deceased male has been identified as Cole Brings Plenty, 27.”
The statement reported that a medical examiner and crime scene investigators were on the scene and asked anyone with further information to come forward.
In addition to starring in the acclaimed 1923, which starred Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, Cole Brings Plenty also appeared in Into the Wild Frontier and The Tall Tales of Jim Bridger. He studied at Haskell Indian Nations University.
