Coachella forced to cancel Anyma DJ set due to severe weather conditions

The opening night of the 2026 edition of Coachella has been forced to cancel its first set of the weekend, with the performance by Anyma being cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.

The Italian-American DJ was initially scheduled to take to the stage at midnight local time, but due to a surge in the wind speed in the Coachella Valley, festival organisers were left with no choice but to pull the set, citing safety concerns.

Approximately a quarter of an hour into his allotted time slot, the festival provided fans with an update to the scheduling via the official Coachella festival app.

The statement read: “Due to strong wind conditions affecting Anyma’s stage build, he is unable to perform. Coachella & Anyma have made this decision together with your safety as the priority. Further updates to come.”

Anyma, who is one half of the EDM duo Tale of US alongside MRAK, was originally supposed to be performing as part of the late night entertainment following Sabrina Carpenter’s Friday headline slot, but due to the weather conditions, his team were unable to construct the set in a way which would have been safe for those within the stage proximity.

No further updates have been provided as to whether Anyma’s set will be rescheduled to later in the weekend, or if he will instead perform a second set during the second weekend of the festival, where the lineup is repeated.

Several acts including Turnstile, The XX, and Disclosure appeared earlier in the day as part of the festival’s grand opening, with Carpenter taking to the stage to headline the festival for the first time in her career.

With wind gusts reaching up to 35mph in the valley over the course of the weekend, it is unclear as to whether any further changes to the schedule will have to be made given the amount of dust particles the weather will bring into the air.

The festival will continue on Saturday and Sunday with headline performances from Justin Bieber and Karol G, and will repeat the following weekend from April 17th to the 19th.
