Coachella 2026: Moby donates fee to four animal rights organisations
Moby has announced that he is donating his fee from both weekends of Coachella to four different animal rights organisations.
The musician performed a set at the California festival on April 10th, and is set to return for its second weekend on April 17th, for which he has refused to take any profit for himself.
Instead, he announced in a video posted to Instagram on April 16th that he would be donating his fees to four different charities who campaign for animal rights – Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, Humane League, Mercy for Animals, and Direct Action Everywhere.
In the video, Moby said: “I’ll be giving 100 per cent of my profits from both shows at Coachella to four different animal rights organisations.”
He added: “And the reason I picked these four is because they do very unique, interesting things in the world of animal rights. To be clear, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of amazing animal rights organisations, but I just wanted to focus on these four for now.”
Alongside his prolific career in music, the composer has been a longtime supporter of animal rights, having previously described it as his “day job” outside of creating and performing. He has also been vegan for over 35 years, with the words ‘Vegan for life’ tattooed on his neck.
To this end, Moby continued in the caption of his post: “Music is what I love, but working on animal rights is my life’s work,” before adding, “My simple belief that every sentient being is entitled to live their life according to their will.”
Aside from Coachella, Moby has a string of European festival dates lined up over the course of this summer, including in Belgium, the Netherlands, Estonia, Sweden, Germany, and Ireland.
It comes off the back of his latest album Future Quiet, which in a three-star review Far Out said, “there does come a limit to how many slow-wrought piano pieces one can bear in a single listen.”
