Coachella 2025: Lady Gaga overcomes technical difficulties during headline set

Lady Gaga‘s second headline set of this year’s Coachella Festival was another triumph for the pop icon despite suffering a microphone malfunction.

The incident occurred during the performance of her hit single ‘Abracadabra’, which Gaga released earlier this year from her new album, Mayhem. While singing the track, her head mic began to glitch and cut out her vocals.

This could have potentially derailed the set, but Gaga continued to deliver a flawless choreography routine and didn’t allow the difficulties to interrupt her performance. After remaining calm, she was eventually given a handheld microphone that allowed her to sing ‘Abracadabra’ at full voice.

Gaga continued to use the handheld microphone for the rest of ‘Abracadabra’ and the next song in her set, ‘Judas,’ before reverting to a head mic following a brief costume change.

Upon returning to the stage, Gaga acknowledged the technical difficulties, telling those in attendance at the Californian festival: “I’m sorry my mic was broken for a second. At least you know I sing live.”

Other artists who took to the stage at Coachella on April 18th included Missy Elliott, The Prodigy, Benson Boone, Kneecap, the Go-Gos, Marina, and Djo.

Coachella is set to continue on April 19th with a headline set from Green Day. Last week, during the first weekend of the festival, they used their platform to change lyrics in ‘American Idiot’ to criticise the Donald Trump administration, and also altered lines in ‘Jesus of Suburbia’ to support the people of Palestine.

Charli XCX, Travis Scott, Clairo, Japanese Breakfast, Ed Sheeran, Beth Gibbons, Sam Fender and Jimmy Eat World are among the others who will perform at Coachella on April 19th.
