Coachella 2025: Bernie Sanders introduces Clairo with message against Donald Trump
As Coachella 2025 approached the end of their set on Saturday night, politician Bernie Sanders made a guest appearance introducing the singer-songwriter.
This follows Clairo’s open stance against the actions of President Donald Trump. Upon hearing of his victory over Kamala Harris on Election Day 2024, she was among the first people to show her support for Harris’s campaign and disdain for the actions of the incoming President.
As the politician introduced her onstage, he also came with a very loaded warning surrounding Trump’s views on issues such as climate change. After bringing up the President, Sanders was treated to boos from the crowd, before announcing that he was in agreement with their frustration.
Sanders claimed that America’s fate lies within the young generation, saying, “You can turn away and ignore what goes on, but if you do that, you do so at your own peril. We need you to stand up and fight for justice, to fight for economic justice, social justice, and racial justice.”
Many of his other points also brought up the need for appropriate healthcare in America, enforcing the need to “stand up to insurance companies and understand that healthcare is a human right.”
Towards the end of his speech, Sanders complimented Clairo’s political beliefs and her stance on modern issues, saying, “I’m here because Clairo has used her prominence to fight for women’s rights, to try to end the terrible, brutal war in Gaza, where thousands of women and children are being killed.”
This comes directly after Sanders’s rally for members of the Democratic Party, which included performances by Neil Young and Joan Baez. Young has also been incredibly vocal about his disdain for Trump, calling him one of the worst presidents in the history of the country.
This is far from the first major political statement at this year’s Coachella either. During a performance by the band Kneecap, the stream of their set was cut when they started an anti-Thatcher chant during their final tune.
