CMAT forced to postpone tour due to medical issue
Indie vocalist CMAT has announced plans to postpone her upcoming tour dates thanks to an urgent medical issue.
The indie pop singer had been riding the wave of her album Euro-Country and was set to begin a string of UK tour dates starting in October. However, the vocalist has said that she will have to take a pause from any kind of touring thanks to an infected wisdom tooth that needs to be dealt with.
In a post on social media, she spoke about how her dentist has “booked me in for surgery to remove both lower wisdom teeth and given me wisdom teeth to help with the infection”. While the recovery time said that it would take the singer about two weeks to be back, there is another short period before she will be able to perform again.
While she would have gladly tried to do whatever she could to prevent the dates from being cancelled, CMAT also said that the infection has rendered her unable to “even open my mouth wide enough to laugh let alone sing”,
She has also stated that her team is “working to reschedule dates and will provide information on this as soon as possible”. Despite the massive disappointment of the tour’s cancellation, CMAT has promised that all purchased tickets will be valid at the rescheduled dates, and those unable to make the other dates should “contact your point of purchase for a refund”.
The vocalist ended by extending a heartfelt apology to her fans, saying, “I realise that this will cause difficulties for so many of you may have made plans to travel to these dates, and for this I can only say I am so sorry. If there was anything I could do I would do it.”
This comes after a massive year for CMAT, having come off working on Euro-Country‘s success. Outside of the reception to her latest record, she had also announced an accompanying tour next year, which was set to be the longest run of shows she had ever played. As of yet, there has been no word on whether the future dates will have to be pushed back.
CMAT also received her second nomination for the Mercury Prize this year, sharing nominations with the likes of Fontaines DC and Sam Fender. The ceremony is set to be held on October 16th.
