CMAT announces new album ‘Euro-Country’
CMAT has announced her new album, Euro-Country, which will be released on August 29th, 2025.
It comes as the follow-up to the Irish singer’s 2023 breakout record, Crazymad, For Me, which saw her nominated for the Mercury Prize. Alongside the announcement of the album, CMAT has released its first single, called ‘Running/Planning’.
Speaking of the song, she explained that it “is about having to chase your own tail to be good enough to exist. It’s an abstracted view of societal pressure on women – specifically through a relationship lens: You start dating someone, you get engaged, you get married, you have kids etc… everything has to follow this linear pattern.”
CMAT continued: “That narrow path that everyone is supposed to be on… the minute you get outside of that, it gets incredibly stressful. And I don’t know anyone who is like, ‘Yeah, love this!’”
The country-pop singer has already emerged as an exciting voice to the current sonic landscape through her previous acclaimed album, but Euro-Country will take her artistry a step further by encompassing themes of money, fame, and womanhood.
On the record as a whole, CMAT added: “Euro-Country is, I think, the best thing I have ever made. I felt halfway through recording it was the most important record I’ve made for myself… mainly because it was making me go crazy.”
CMAT will embark on a string of tour dates both in the run up to the release of the album and after it comes out. She will begin in the summer with stadium dates supporting Sam Fender, before setting out on her own tour of the UK and Europe later in the year.
