Clairo cancels performance at Primavera Sound Barcelona due to “logistical issues”

Clairo has withdrawn from her upcoming performance at Primavera Sound, Barcelona, set for early June.

The announcement was made on the Primavera Instagram account via their Instagram Stories, leaving indie pop fans yearning. After revealing the cancellation, the festival said, “We are deeply saddened by this news and share the fans’ frustration. We, too, were very much looking forward to welcoming her again at Primavera Sound Barcelona.”

The statement was then handed over to the ‘Juna’ singer, who addressed expectant festival attendees as “Barcelona friends.” She began the statement: “Unfortunately, I’m not able to make it to Primavera this year and I’m so sad about it, because Primavera is iconic and returning to the fest is something I’ve been looking forward to for ages.”

She continued: “There are some logistical issues with getting my show to/from Primavera that have forced my hand here. I never want to give my fans anything but the absolute best set I can do, and that won’t be possible at this time. I’m so sorry again and I hope to be able to make it up to you sooner than later.”

At the time of writing, it is unclear what these “logistical issues” are, as no other artist has cancelled. She has only one more upcoming live performance booked, at London’s BST Hyde Park festival alongside Sabrina Carpenter on July 5th.

Far Out wrote of her 2024 album Charm: “Charm is beautiful. It’s cohesive and mature, full of complex instrumentals but with a clear sonic identity, as the musician seems to have fallen in love with pianos for this record. When listening from start to finish in an engaged and focused way, it reveals itself to be an impressive undertaking.”

Other artists set to attend the Spanish festival next month include Charli XCX, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, LCD Soundsystem, FKA Twigs, HAIM, Fontaines D.C, Idles and more.
