Chubby and the Gang announce break up

The London punk band Chubby and the Gang seem to have broken up following a post on social media.

On March 31st, bandleader Charlie Manning-Walker shared a post on social media in which he seemed to announce that the band would no longer continue. While there is no formal announcement, it seems clear that he is referring to his band and announcing they will be breaking up.

“Every dog has his day, ours came and went away,” he wrote under a black and white picture of a logo for the band, “Thank you for the good times sorry for the bad ones and for a great six years. Who fuckin loves ya? Chubby does.”

Despite this being sad news, the split comes following a pretty good run for the band. They initially formed in London in 2019 with Manning-Walker joined by Ethan Stahl, Tom Hardwick, Joe McMahon, and Maegan Brooks Mills. They had all previously earned their stripes in other punk bands and brought their A-game to Chubby and the Gang.

Since its inception, the band has released three studio albums: Speed KillsMutts Nuts, and And Then There Was. The band also released Labour of Love in 2022, an EP.

Their most recent album, And Then There Was, was acclaimed by Far Out, who wrote of the album, “On it, Charlie ‘Chubby Charles’ Manning-Walker and his band continue to expand their reach out of punk and show their strengths in other areas, from baggy to ballads with a potent sense of stout in the air.”

The group concluded their final UK tour in December, including a date at Moth Club in London.
