Christopher Nolan’s next project, the action thriller film Tenet, is set to be one of most expensive original films of all time.
The film, which will star the likes of John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Caine and more, is currently filming high budget action sequences in Estonia.
As excitement around the film builds in the country, Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR), have claimed that the estimated budget for the film is in excess of $225million—a figure that not only makes it Nolan’s most expensive original film to date, but one of the most expensive in cinema history.
If the estimated budget is correct, Tenet will sit second behind The Dark Knight Rises which secured a reported budget of $230million. Not only one of the most expensive original films in history, Nolan’s latest effort is in esteemed company as Disney film Tangled and James Cameron‘s momentous film Avatar are only ahead of Tenet in the entirety of most expensive films.
Tangled, created by Byron Howard and Nathan Greno and released in 2010, cost an eye-watering $260million to create while Cameron’s record-breaking film Avatar was priced up at $237million.
With additional cast members included the likes of Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Clémence Poésy, and Kenneth Branagh, Tenet will see Nolan reunite with award-winning cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema and acclaimed composer Ludwig Göransson.
The film has been penned for a July 17, 2020 release by Warner Bros. Pictures.
