Robert Pattinson has been unveiled as the new Batman Matt Reeves’ upcoming new film.
The former Twilight actor, who has since portrayed Salvador Dalí in Little Ashes and appeared in films such as Water for Elephants and The Lost City of Z will succeed Ben Affleck.
According to Variety, Pattinson has been handed the lead in Reeves’ film which will be a “noir-driven detective movie” which will take the “world’s greatest detective” angle.
Director Reeves explains: “He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been.”
He added: “I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”
With pre-production slated to begin this summer, the new batman is scheduled to hit cinemas on June 25th, 2021.
