Chris Redd reveals he was selling prescription pills to ‘Saturday Night Live’ castmates

Saturday Night Live alumni Chris Redd has admitted to selling prescription pills to his castmates during his time on the show.

Redd joined the programme in 2017 and was a prominent member of the cast for five seasons until departing in 2022. Now, he has opened up on the personal issues he was dealing with while at 30 Rock.

In an Instagram video, published on January 6th, Redd admitted, “Bottom line is, while I was at the show, I had some pill issues. I had some pill problems. Nothing too crazy, but crazy for my Black ass. I was even selling some to people, some of my castmates.”

Additionally, Redd admitted to having an affair with Saturday Night Live’s Kenan Thompson’s ex-wife, Christina Evangeline. Thompson filed for divorce in 2022 after more than a decade of marriage.

Redd said of the relationship with Evangeline, “I was never, like, hitting on. It was never crazy, until it got crazy.”

While Redd stressed that he has no plans to “snitch” on his former colleagues that he supplied with pills, he did have some harsh words to say about the lack of help that was on hand for him.

The comic shared, “It was really funny to me that, like, I would be around on this shit, and people would talk shit about it and buy and talk shit about me… but wouldn’t like help me. I would have panic attacks… wouldn’t like be concerned about me, nothing.”

However, he found comfort in Evangeline, explaining, “This lady was the only one to call me on my shit, help me on my shit. She helped me on my therapy journey, and she told me things about her life that made me look at a lot of people involved differently, and in that time, we fell in love.”

In addition to Saturday Night Live, Redd also appeared in Thompson’s sitcom, Kenan, even after his relationship emerged. He said, “Me and him talked about it and we were cool and we continued to work for a year after we talked about it.”

Redd also reflected on the relationship, “There’s different ways I could went about this shit. But I was in love and I was spiralling out, bro. And by the time everybody in the world found out, I was out of there, SNL.”

His final appearance on the show aired in May 2022.
