The daughter of late Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell, Toni, has shared a touching cover of Pearl Jam’s classic track ‘Black.’ Listen to the new rendition below.
The cover came as part of Lolla2020, a livestream set up by the organisers of the music festival Lollapalooza, who arranged the four-day event of livestreams in replacement of their 2020 events.
Lolla 2020 will continue until August 2nd on YouTube and, as free events go, is well worth investing some time in. Largely because otherwise, you’d miss out on gems like this.
Cornell took the mic in socially distant settings to perform an emotional yet perfectly executed rendition of Pearl Jam’s ‘Black’.
Toni Cornell and her brother Christopher Cornell have recently launched two initiatives in response to the loss of their father. “Losing our dad was like losing our universe. We miss him every day,” they wrote in a statement.
“With our father’s memory, and his constant presence in our lives, we are so proud to be working on a project like this that can make a real difference. His music saved lives and his legacy will continue to do so.”
It would appear that Toni Cornell looks set to follow in her father’s footsteps with performing and judging by her cover of Pearl Jam, it’s a good job she has!
