Cassia share blissful summer anthem 'Drifting'

Cassia are one of the most promising bands in Britain and for good reason. Their blissful new song ‘Drifting’ is everything we need right now and, to celebrate its recent release, the track arrives as Far Out’s Track of the Day.

The band, who have already amassed millions of streams on their previously released tracks such as ‘100 Times Over’ and ‘Loosen Up’, hope to see ‘Drifting’ follow suit as Cassia carve out their own niche of indie-pop.

‘Drifting’ is handcrafted for festival crowds and it’s a crying shame that fans will have to wait until next summer to be singing their lungs out with a lukewarm cider in hand and we will have to settle for playing the anthem at full blast in the garden for the moment.

Last year saw the band release their debut album Replica and have wasted no time in working on the follow up, with Cassia starting 2020 at full-throttle with ‘Do Right’ and ‘Drifting’ follows on from where their last single left off.

Frontman Rob Ellis revealed the inspiration behind the track: “Drifting’ initially was written after I watched the movie Interstellar last summer. We then started working it up together in March whilst we were all locked into our house.”

He then continued: “The dystopian storyline really grabbed me back then and it so happened that the lyrics
suit what everyone is going through right now, which is really freaky. It’s a song about feeling like you’re drifting. Not having control over what’s happening, distance, daydreaming, growing up and learning for the better.”

Check out the joyous video for ‘Drifting’ below which is kickstarting our brand new series ‘Emerging Sounds’ on Far Out’s Facebook page.

Each week a different upcoming artist will showcase their video as part of the series and Cassia’s ‘Drifting’ is the perfect opener as we give some deserved spotlight to artists who you all need to be listening to right now.
