Carlos Santana forced to cancel shows due to health issues

On April 22nd, Carlos Santana postponed a concert in San Antonio, Texas, after reportedly suffering from dehydration.

His manager, Michael Vrionis, released a statement before the show: “It is with profound disappointment that I have to inform you all that tonight’s show in San Antonio has been postponed. Mr. Santana was at the venue (Majestic Theatre) preparing for tonight’s show when he experienced an event that was determined to be dehydration.”

“Out of an abundance of caution and the health of Mr Santana, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action,” he continued.

Vrionis concluded by promising that the show would be rescheduled. Santana is “doing well,” he reassured fans, and “is looking forward to coming back to San Antonio soon as well as continuing his US Tour.”

However, eyewitnesses reportedly told TMZ that the incident happened during a sound check, during which the musician was taken out on a gurney before being put into an ambulance.

The issue could be related to a cold, rainy concert he performed on April 21st in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Just hours before being hospitalised, he posted on Facebook thanking his fans for the energy at the show, “for showing up with such beautiful energy and love in the cold and rain.”

This isn’t the first tour postponement Santana has made. In January, he postponed the start of his Las Vegas residency after a “hard fall” and breaking a finger. Vrionis then told fans that the guitarist couldn’t play for about six weeks.

He will return to his Las Vegas residency on May 14 and then embark on a European tour for the summer.
