Canadian metal band Cancer Bats launch fundraiser after gear and merchandise is stolen
The Canadian metal band Cancer Bats have launched a fundraiser after their gear and merchandise were robbed following a show in Indianapolis.
The hardcore rockers are currently touring the US with He is Legend, but on April 21st, they posted on Instagram to explain that after their show the previous night, their van and trailer containing all their equipment and merchandise had been stolen from outside their hotel.
Cancer Bats added that although the van had since been recovered, the trailer and its contents was still missing, and that they would have to cancel their appearance in St Louis.
They have now launched an appeal on GoFundMe to reimburse the costs of their stolen equipment and stock, which has now raised almost $31,000. The five-piece noted in their Instagram post that: “We will post pictures and info about the stolen gear soon. So peeps in the Indiana area please keep an eye out. We had some cool shit!!”
The band also explained on their GoFundMe page that: “Getting robbed sucks. And asking for money kinda sucks too when there’s so many people out there in way worse situations than we are, but we’re in a bit of a pickle and want to keep on rocking and rolling!!”
Cancer Bats continued: “Anything that comes in above what we absolutely need will be donated to get kids in remote northern communities in Canada musical instruments so they can start rocking and rolling!! Thanks for the huge outpouring of love already!!! We’re feeling it big time!!!”
The band are set to appear back on stage alongside He is Legend on April 22nd in Madison, Wisconsin, and will continue touring the US for the rest of April and throughout May.
