Cabaret Voltaire announce 2026 UK farewell tour: “Round the block one more time”
Cabaret Voltaire have announced their final UK tour, which is set to take place in October 2026.
Formed in the early 1970s, their magnetic mix of industrial synth-pop and electronic beats has long been considered a pioneering force in the Sheffield music scene. Now, the band will undertake their last ever UK shows.
Last week, the band performed at the Sensoria Festival in Sheffield. Now, Stephen ‘Mal’ Mallinder and Chris Watson look ahead at 2026 for their farewell shows.
They will be joined by Gazelle Twin for all of the scheduled performances. Totalling 11 separate nights, the two bands will first hit Birmingham’s Town Hall on October 10th, before heading onwards to Liverpool’s Arts Club and Nottingham’s Rock City.
Following this, on October 14th, they will play at Tramshed in Cardiff, and the following night are set to take the stage at Bath’s Forum.
Subsequent stops at Newcastle, Glasgow, Manchester, and Bexhill will be followed up by a celebratory night at London’s iconic venue, the Roundhouse, on October 22nd. They will finish things where it all began, at the Octagon in Sheffield on October 25th.
Commenting on the goodbye tour, Stephen Mallinder shared, “What a wonderful opportunity to go round the block one more time and share that with one of the most unique and spectacular artists we know. The connective tissue between ourselves, our history, and the world Gazelle Twin now conjures up, will be out there and shared with people. It seems like a special, magical moment.”
Next month, the musicians will kick off their 2025 tour, which celebrates 50 years together. The five anniversary shows will take place from November 17th to 22nd in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, London and Brighton.
Their founding member, Richard H. Kirk, passed away in 2021 at the age of 65. At the time, his label, Mute, deemed him “a towering creative genius who led a singular and driven path throughout his life and musical career. We will miss him so much.”
