Bruce Springsteen performs 'Land of Hope and Dreams' for Joe Biden's inauguration

The musical celebrations for Joe Biden’s inauguration were vast, but perhaps the best performance came from another Boss — Bruce Springsteen. The singer joined a host of stars as part of the Celebrating America TV special last night to honour Biden’s presidential inauguration, performing a touching rendition of ‘Land of Hope and Dreams’.

Earlier in the day Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez had both performed live songs during the official ceremony at the US Capitol building. It was a moment of celebration for the music world who, by and large, favoured the Democrat over former president Donald Trump.

Joe Biden was officially sworn in as the 46th US President with a huge celebration taking place across the airwaves. The Celebrating America special welcomed plenty of huge stars including John Legend, Demi Lovato and Dave Grohl’s Foo Fighters.

There was only one man who could open the show, however. Perhaps the very essence of American songwriting and one of the country’s finest singers, Bruce Springsteen. He chose to perform his 1999 song ‘Land of Hope and Dreams’ as a unifying track for the American people.

“I’m proud to be here in cold Washington D.C. tonight,” Springsteen said before his performance at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. “I wanna offer this small prayer for our country.”
