Bruce Springsteen labels Donald Trump an “American tyrant” during performance at Democrat rally
Bruce Springsteen performed at a rally for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris on October 24th, and hit out at her Republican rival Donald Trump, labelling him an “American tyrant.”
Springsteen appeared at the rally in Atlanta, Georgia, where he played a series of songs and shared his support for the Democratic nominee. He started out with a performance of his 1978 track, ‘The Promised Land’, before sharing his thoughts on the two presidential candidates.
“My name is Bruce Springsteen and I am here today to support Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for president and vice president of the United States,” Springsteen stated clearly, “and to oppose Donald Trump and JD Vance.”
“Now, here’s why,” Springsteen continued, “I want a president who reveres the Constitution, who does not threaten, but wants to protect and guide our great democracy, who believes in the rule of law and the peaceful transfer of power, who will fight for a woman’s right to choose, and who wants to create a middle class economy that will serve all our citizens.”
‘The Boss’ declared that only one of the candidates “holds these principles dear,” suggesting that while Harris is running to be president, Trump is running to be “an American tyrant.” Springsteen stated that Trump “does not understand this country, its history or what it means to be deeply American.”
“And that’s why on November 5th,” he concluded, “I’m casting my vote for Kamala Harria and Tim Walz. I urge all of you who believe in the American way to join me, thank you.”
This isn’t the first time Springsteen has expressed his support for Harris and hit out at Trump. Earlier this month, the singer took to Instagram to share his support for the Democratic candidate while declaring his staunch opposition to Trump and Vance’s campaign.
Springsteen called Trump the “most dangerous” presidential candidate in his lifetime, again suggesting that he doesn’t understand the meaning or history of the United States.
Springsteen isn’t the only artist who has shared his support for Harris in the presidential election. Popstars such as Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift have thrown their support behind the presidential candidate, as well as the Dave Grohl-fronted rockers, Foo Fighters, who disavowed Trump’s use of their track, ‘My Hero’.
Beyoncé is expected to perform at Harris’ rally in Houston, Texas, on October 25th. The pop queen’s song, ‘Freedom’, has become closely associated with the Democratic campaign.
