Bruce Springsteen announces first solo record in 5 years


Today Bruce Springsteen has announced a brand new solo album. Titled Western Stars the LP drops on June 14th via Columbia Records. There’s anew single on the way too, but you won’t be able to listen to ‘Hello Sunshine’ until 12am EST.

In a press release Springsteen says of the record “This record is a return to my solo recordings featuring character-driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements, it’s a jewel box of a record.”

Springsteen also revealed that he co-produced the album with Ron Aniello, and it features appearances from an array of incredible artists. Those included are Jon Brion (on celeste, Moog, and farfisa), Patti Scialfa, early E Street Band member David Sancious, Charlie Giordano, Soozie Tyrell, and more.

The press release goes on to say the LP is influenced by: “Southern California pop records of the late ’60s and early ’70s” and dives into a “sweeping range of American themes, of highways and desert spaces, of isolation and community and the permanence of home and hope.”
