Britney Spears says she won’t perform in the US due to “extremely sensitive reasons”
Britney Spears has claimed she is unable to perform concerts in the United States.
The singer shared an old image on Instagram of her performing live, which led her to discuss her love of entertaining crowds and reveal that she never plans to again play a show in her home country.
Spears told her followers about her current social media exploits, “Interestingly enough, I dance on IG to heal things in my body that people have no idea about. Yup and it’s embarrassing sometimes… but I walked through the fire to save my life…”
The chart-topper then revealed that she can’t perform live in the US, claiming, “I will never perform in the U.S. again because of extremely sensitive reasons.” However, Spears did not divulge the reasons that are preventing her from playing shows in America.
Nevertheless, she did tease upcoming dates in the UK and Australia, adding, “I hope to be sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, performing with my son… in the UK and AUSTRALIA very soon.”
Spears has not performed live since playing a set at the F1 in Austin, Texas, in 2018. She was scheduled to deliver a residency in Las Vegas in 2019, which was cancelled due to her father’s health issues.
In a statement, she said upon cancelling the run of Las Vegas shows: “It’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalised and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him.”
Spears added, “I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time.”
Her last UK tour also took place in 2018, with Spears completing an arena tour, as well as dates in Scarborough, Blackpool, and headlining Brighton Pride.
She previously said in 2022 on Instagram, “I won’t probably perform again just because I’m stubborn and I will make my point.”
