Brit Awards 2024: The full list of winners
At London’s O2 Arena on March 2nd, the British music industry celebrated the last 12 months at the 44th edition of the Brit Awards. The show was a night to remember fo Raye, whose album My 21st Century Blues was crowned ‘British Album of the Year’.
Going into the ceremony, all eyes were on Raye, who was nominated in seven categories following the release of her debut album, My 21st Century Blues. The independently released record includes the chart-topping single ‘Escapism’, which was shortlisted for ‘Song of the Year’. She has also been named ‘Songwriter of the Year’.
Raye previously said of her seven nominations, which arrived less than two years after Raye parted ways with Polydor Records to become an independent artist: “A year and a half ago, as far as the industry is concerned, I was down and out. Never in my wildest dreams would I have been here again with seven Brit nominations.”
Additionally, Raye took to the stage at the Brits to play ‘Ice Cream Man’. Other artists who performed at the O2 include Jungle, who treated the London crowd to X from their latest record Volcano, and Dua Lipa, who sang new single ‘Training Season’. Kylie Minogue, Calvin Harris, Tate McRae, Rema Chase and Status also showcased their talents.
Unlike the last two years, comedian Mo Gilligan wasn’t on hosting duties for the 44th edition of the Brit Awards. Instead, Maya Jama, Roman Kemp and Clara Amfo split the role; the trio previously worked together on the Brit Awards pre-show for ITV in 2021.
It was also revealed before the event that The Last Dinner Party, who recently scored a number one album with their debut album Prelude to Ecstasy, had been awarded the ‘Rising Star’ prize. Electronic duo Chase and Status were also given ‘Producer of the Year’.
