Bright Eyes announce new album ‘Five Dice, All Threes’ and release lead single
Bright Eyes have announced their return after four years with their new album Five Dice, All Threes, set for release on September 20th via Dead Oceans. The announcement also comes with the LP’s lead single, ‘Bells and Whistles’, alongside plans for a US and UK tour.
The band’s 10th album will see them joined by long-time friends Cat Power, The National’s Matt Berninger and The So So Glos’ Alex Orange Drink, who each feature as guest performances throughout the record.
Lead single, ‘Bells and Whistles’, features a jam-packed music video directed by Josh Boone, which was filmed in Omaha, Nebraska.
“This is a song about the many little details in life that can seem insignificant or frivolous or temporary at the time but eventually end up forming your destiny,” Conor Oberst explained, adding: “It’s also kind of a whistle while you work scenario.”
Self-produced and recorded at Oberst and Mike Mogis’ studio in Omaha, Five Dice, All Threes follows the band’s 2020 comeback album Down in the Weeds, Where the World Once Was.
In 2022, the band also announced plans to reissue their first nine studio albums under Dead Oceans. The first three of these coincided with the release of ‘Falling Out of Love at This Volume’, ‘Contrast and Compare (featuring Waxahatchee)’, and ‘Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh (featuring Phoebe Bridgers)‘ from A Collection of Songs Written and Recorded 1995–1997, Letting Off the Happiness, and Fevers and Mirrors.
Following the new album, the band plans to tour the UK and US, including headline slots at Riot Fest and BFF Festival.
