Bret Michaels shares hospital update after “intense” pain on tour
Poison frontman Bret Michaels has revealed that he is recovering from a kidney stone surgery, after playing several shows in “intense” pain.
The musician shared a Facebook post earlier this week, where he expressed his gratitude for frontline workers, doctors, and nurses after he was admitted for a kidney stone that would not pass after “seven days of waiting it out”.
Michaels added, “The pain became intense but, as usual, I played through Charleston WV, Grantville PA and a special private show at Fairchild AFB in Spokane for veterans, active duty and their families.”
Only a day later, Michaels was admitted to the hospital as “the pain became too much when the stone would not pass.”
The star revealed that the surgery went smoothly, sharing, “I’m out of post-op recovery, and I’m doing everything within my power to feel better and continue playing great shows for great fans when I’ve got a complete clean bill of health.”
Michaels underlined his commitment to his craft once more with a concluding statement that read, “Just know, they eventually forced me out of my clothes & into a hospital gown lol as I had gone straight from the show to the hospital.”
The 63-year-old’s career has been plagued with several health issues, including a life-threatening brain hemorrhage and a related warning stroke in 2010.
Earlier this year, Michaels hit the headlines for a slightly different reason, after he publicly responded to the claim that Poison were forced to axe their plans to tour in 2026 due to Michaels’ financial demands.
He wrote indignantly at the time, “Onward & upward and let’s all focus on the positive in 2026, and the potential of a future reunion.”
In May, Michaels pulled out of the 250 Freedom concert series, supported by Donald Trump‘s administration, citing safety concerns.
He added at the time, “This isn’t about politics. It’s about staying true to what I’ve always believed in. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. That’s one of the freedoms our veterans fought for and something I’ve always respected. But as a father, friend and bandmate, I have to take threats and safety concerns seriously.”
